1-Aunt Muna: we arrived at the airport at 7 o’clock. We went to the check in desk. Salma started to cry while we were checking in. I gave Salma her teddy bear.

2-Aunt Muna: Salma slept while we were waiting for the plane. Uncle Hassan read a book.

3-Aunt Muna: I looked for Salma’s teddy bear while we were boarding the plane. The teddy bear wasn’t in my bag.

4- Aunt Muna: I sat down by the window with Salma. We talked while the plane was taking off.

5- Aunt Muna:Salma woke up while we were landing, we looked out of the window together.

6- Aunt Muna: We got off the plane. A little girl saw us while we were collecting our suitcases. She gave us the teddy bear.

What happened to the teddy bear?

Answer:

Aunt Muna gave Salma the teddy bear while they were checking in. They couldn’t find the bear when they boarded the plane. . A little girl found the teddy bear and gave it to them.

 

Unit 9 (we went to the airport)

1-The simple past is formed from regular and irregular verbs:

            Cook: cooked    (regular) 

I cooked a meal last week.

I didn't cook a meal last week.

Did you cook a meal last week? 

           Go: went (irregular)

Ahmad went to Canada last winter.

Ahmad didn't go to Canada last winter.

Did Ahmad go to Canada last winter.

   The past simple describes actions that happened in a specific moment in the past.

 2-The past continuous is made from ( WAS/WERE) and the ing form of a verb:

  Was cooking      were going

I/he /she/it (was eating……..)

You /we/ they (were eating……

 The past continuous describes actions that were in progress in the past

 We use The simple past and the past continuous together to show that the past simple action happened in the middle of the past continuous action, while it was in progress

While the boys were doing their homework, Sami got home.

    Sami got home while the boys were doing their homework

(While) + (Past Continuous Tense)  , (Simple Past Tense)

(Simple Past Tense) + (while) + (Past Continuous Tense)

While Ali was driving home, he saw an accident.

I broke my leg while I was playing football.
